Our Musical Director

Julian Whittaker is an experienced choral conductor, teacher and accompanist. He has conducted  several adult chamber choirs, choral societies and many school choirs. With a teaching career of nearly 30 years, he has been Director of Music at six state and independent schools. He is currently Director of Music at the Crypt School, a Gloucester Grammar school with an outstanding music department and very strong choral tradition. He passionately believes that anyone can learn to sing and should be able to join a choir! He studied music at Liverpool and Huddersfield Universities and has been a member of the Association of British Choral Conductors for many years. He has led singing days, concert tours and workshops for choirs. He is also a member of the Gloucester Choral Society and sings in the Three Choirs Festival. When not teaching or conducting, Julian enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys walking, visiting National Trust properties and classic cars!
